Sunday 29th May 2011.
We would like to invite you, your friends, family, team mates, clients or members to enter into an exciting and unique new event set to hit the Wirral this summer.
The event will run simultaneously with the famous Caldy 7's rugby competition that draws enormous crowds to Caldy Rugby Club in Thurstaston each year.
The Go Commando Challenge is a test of physical strength and team endurance. Teams of four or individuals will be required to complete seven challenges, competing against other challengers from organisations such as police, fire, military, strength and conditioning gyms, martial arts & boxing gyms and rugby clubs.
Each challenger will be timed and the fastest two to complete all seven challenges will take part in a final event on the main pitch to establish the overall winner prior to the Caldy 7's final rugby match of the competition.
Challenges include Famous Fingals Fingers (World's strongest man), 4x4 Pull, Giant Farmers Walk and A Log Run.
Fingals Fingers: A classic strength and speed test. You will have to raise and tip secured and pivoted poles.
The 4 x 4 Pull: All four members must pull a special 4 x 4 vehicle uphill between two points.
Giant Farmer’s Walk: Using specially constructed solid timber dumbbells competitors must sprint relay style and cover a 100m dash.
The Tyre Tower: You must move a stack of tyres up hill and place them over the top of an upright ‘Totem Pole’.
The Pulk Run: You must pull a specially built weight between two points.
The Spare Tyre: You will have to roll 5 different size tyres up hill at speed.
The Log Run Relay: You will have to complete a course carrying a log from point A to B and then carry a team member or a mate back round the course in reverse. Immediately you will then sprint to obtain a decreasing number of flags at the tops of the hill.
This is a fantastic day with prizes for the winners and runners up, corporate facilities, family activities, beer tent and sponsorship opportunities, not to mention the rugby!!
Teams must be made up of 4 individuals aged 16 +, they can be mixed or one gender and there are no categories for age etc. We will also be running a replica Mini Commando course for children aged 7 to 16.
There is no charge for this event, but we do ask that you make a donation to Help For Heroes on the day.
