Wild Campers
When Jonty Meisener approached us to discuss taking a group of "Dad's & Lads" out for a walk in the hills the Wildcamp Weekend was born. The weather was not kind but the fun was in abundance. We supplied ration packs and provided a real wildcamp experience for the 16 strong group of fathers and sons. Here is what Jonty said following the weekend:
Dear Greg and Robyn,
Thank you so much for your excellent organisation of the ‘Snowdon 16’ trip for the Dads & Lads. Greg had to contend with excited, noisy 9 year old children, travel sickness, changing conditions on top of Snowdon and varying levels of fitness, all of which he took in his stride. He guided us up a very beautiful but quiet part of Snowdon, to where we all set up a ‘Wild Camp’ for the night.
The boys loved setting up camp, playing games by moonlight and helping to cook and wash. They drank fresh ‘mountain’ water directly from a stream and were introduced to the concept of a mountain ‘privy’. Most importantly from the parent’s point of view, we ‘townies’ felt very confident with Greg’s knowledge of the mountain and his leadership skills.
When the weather did change for the worse and we were all zipped up dry in our tents, Greg was out there going up and over Snowdon in high winds and driving rain a second time to bring the minibus back round for us!
The boys had such an inspiring weekend and they are all desperate to do it all again. Greg has instilled a sense of adventure in all of us, a respect for the countryside and it was such a great opportunity to bond with our children!
We will definitely be doing more trips with you and I would not hesitate to strongly recommend ‘Go Commando’ to anyone who wants a bespoke adventure which is well organised, professionally run and fun.
Thanks again
Jonty Meisner
